I just finished trying a clean install. I tried for two days to get video & audio drivers to install. Finally got the video but audio would not install. I went back and installed I was an idiot and thought that a clean install would be just that much better. NOT!! I've had to re-install WinME at least 10 times.

I don't think that's going to help, but it's worth trying, i agree with that. IMO, whatever you're calling "slipstream" isn't. It's either borked or not a slipstreamed installer in the usual The clean install should only take about 4-6 hours max, most of it sitting and waiting for the machine to do its work.

I did a clean install of XP w/NTFS on a blank (unpartitioned) HD, and let setup take care of partitioning and formatting. This OS has not let a program choke it since installation. The 2 youngest could constantly wring a BSOD out of our Win98 installation. They haven't been able to make XP even blink.
